As President & COO of Franklin Savings Bank, I have the opportunity (it was actually assigned to me) to introduce you to our new blog called the FSBlog.  Although I consider myself moderately savvy when it comes to social media (I have a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Pinterest account), I must admit I was feeling a bit uneasy with being asked to write the uber important introductory blog for our new website.  So, I did what we all do when we need more information and guidance – I Googled It!  The definition of a blog is, “A regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group that is written in an informal or conversational style”.  Okay that’s pretty much what I thought it was, but that doesn’t help me with how to introduce our new blog.

As I thought more about my assignment, I decided I would first begin by answering a few questions I know I would have if I were reading this for the first time.  So here goes:

  • Why is FSB blogging? We know there are different ways of communicating with our customers and potential customers.  We don’t want to miss the opportunity to connect with someone who has an interest in us.
  • What do I get from this? We plan to live up to our new tagline of “Smarter Banking. Easier Living.” by providing information and advice on a variety of topics.  What we have heard from our customers is that they want to be educated on financial topics.  We love this, and believe an educated consumer is the best to have!  Therefore, you can count on us to provide useful information you can use; and to keep it interesting, it won’t always be about banking and finance.
  • PuppyHow often are you going to blog? We plan to post on our blog every month.  If we receive lots of comments and requests for more, then we’ll certainly do our best to provide more.  And don’t worry, there will not be any stories about what we had for dinner last night, complaints about long lines at the coffee shop, or how often we are awoken during the night by our new puppy who would like to go out (Sorry that last one was too personal; however, even the cat is annoyed with the puppy in the picture).
  • What if I have something to say? We hope you do!  We honestly won’t know how we’re doing unless you tell us.  So, please feel free to share your thoughts online in our blogs.  However, if you would like to contact me privately, you may reach me on my direct line at 934-8331 or via email at

So that is it for our introductory blog. Thanks for connecting with us on our website and for your interest in FSB!
