Melissa Mansfield, FSB VP, Retail Lending, Loan Compliance & CRA Officer, presents a $400 check to Chrissy Avila, Mountain Ridge Center Recreation Director, as part of a national Veterans Initiative to ensure elderly Veterans living in state Veteran homes are able to live in safe and secure environments. Nancy Drechsel (far left) and Roy Berry are residents of MRC and serve as Council Vice President and Council President, respectively.

Franklin Savings Bank presented Mountain Ridge Center of Franklin with a $400 donation through its participation in a national Veterans Initiative in partnership with the Senior Crimestoppers program and CRA Partners, powered by the Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation. Mountain Ridge Center will use the donation to purchase benches and picnic tables for its new fire pit area.

“Our servicemen and women dedicate their lives to preserving our freedom as well as protecting our country from harm,” commented Ron Magoon, President & CEO. “As they grow older they unfortunately become unsuspecting victims to fraud, abuse, neglect and other unfortunate acts of crime. We take an active role in protecting and supporting our local Veterans homes to ensure they can continue to provide a safe environment for our nation’s Veterans.”

FSB’s involvement in the Veterans Initiative ensures that 40,000 Veterans living in 160 state Veteran homes are able o live their lives in a safe and secure environment. For instance, each Veteran resident at Mountain Ridge Center receives a personal lock box to safeguard their valuables. Each participating facility is also provided with regular in-service training for residents, staff and management. In addition, the Senior Crimestoppers program provides each state Veterans home with a video titled, “Time of Your Life,” chronicling historical moments throughout the residents’ lifetime.
